Magic City Equality joins our family in Minneapolis, as well as across the nation, in celebration with the verdict of Derek Chauvin in the murder of George Floyd. This afternoon (April 20, 2021), Chauvin was found guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and third-degree manslaughter in the death of Mr. Floyd in May 2020.
While the world can take a collective sigh of relief, we must remember that examples of racism and injustice occur against people of color every day. The fact that this happened in the first place, still happens everyday, and the argument about it being justified is reprehensible. We must all band together as one in order to take on the systemic racism that still occurs in this country.
